Hi
I have been suffering from dry eyes as the result of the RA. I have been using Hylo Forte eye drops with Visco Tears at night. Recently I have had my tear ducts plugged and the consultant has prescribed Cyclosporin Eye Drops which should help tear production. However I have to use them three times a day and they make my eyes really red and very painful.
I just wondered if anyone else has any experience of these drops and if so were they painful to use?
Thanks
Sue

Hi Sue,
This sounds very familiar to me. I had my lower tear ducts plugged 4 or 5 years ago.
Didn't realise there were upper ducts as well until the Dr. tried putting more plugs in.
Can't recommend it even to my worse enemies. However lower ones have been
absolutely fine.
I have been putting Visco tears in during the day. I was told it could
be 1/4 hourly when eyes sore!!! At night I use Lacrilube ointment which is sticky
and stops eyes drying out at night. Both of these eye treatments are Preservative FREE.
It sounds as though that is what is causing the pain and redness. I have been attending
Maidstone Eye Hospital for years. Go to your GP and explain the problem. Because your
eyes are sore you are likely to leave the drops as long as possible. Not good.
Take care Anne. PS I use sunglasses iin fluorescent light as well as in sun
